Frequently Asked Questions

Why use compressed air over other power sources?

Compressed air is a flexible, powerful, and safe way to power tools and equipment. Reduced chances of electrical shock, a lower average weight for pneumatic tools compared to gas or electric alternatives, and the flexibility of increasing or decreasing power at will without firm voltage or horsepower limitations are just a few of the benefits. Electric compressors are also popular in enclosed workshops and manufacturing applications because they don’t contaminate the air when running, like gas, or, in the case of a malfunction, like hydraulic equipment.

Can I install a compressor anywhere?

Air compressors should be installed in a dry, well-ventilated indoor area with vibration-damping/isolation mounting pads on a level floor. 2” of clearance from the nearest wall or other piece of equipment is recommended for air flow and to allow access for proper system maintenance.

What kind of maintenance do compressors need?

With regular use, reciprocating air compressors should generally have their oil changed every 3 months, with a filter cleaning weekly, and replacement filters every 6-12 months or when debris becomes noticeably harder to remove during cleanings, or when tears and holes appear in the filter. Professional servicing and advanced compressor maintenance should occur at least once per year, or whenever the compressor reaches its operating hour limit for recommended maintenance for the model as outlined in its user manual.
